The Best Soup of All Time (definitively) Is...

Over the last two weeks, The Soup Troupe has been on a quest to answer the very important question: what is the best soup of all time?

In Bracket 3, Ramen is heading directly to the semi-finals while Curry Coconut Soup & New England Clam Chowder will battle for the final spot. Bracket 4 had so many contestants move on, there are still 4 soups competing. Zuppa will face Tomato Bisque & French Onion will face Tortilla Soup.

Here are the faceoffs:

  • Miso Soup (17 votes) vs. Lobster Bisque (16 votes)

  • Corn Chowder (16 votes) vs. Cream of Tomato (16 votes)

Day 8: We have reached the BRACKET FINALS! Only two more days until the finale. Minestrone officially won the wild card race and if Minestrone received more overall votes than any of our bracket finalists, it will move on to the bracket finals. Tortilla soup just barely edged minestrone out with 59 overall votes to minestrone's 58. We give a hat's off to Minestrone for a strong battle to the end. Miso Soup is also leading the vote count (69 votes) so far after three very strong rounds in bracket 1. Here are the official finalists:

  • Pho (28 votes) vs. Miso Soup (13 votes)

  • Corn Chowder (20 votes) vs. Gumbo (19 votes)

  • Curry Coconut Soup (13 votes) vs. Ramen (26 votes)

  • Tortilla Soup (22 votes) vs. Tomato Bisque (18 votes)

Day 9: The time has arrived. The SEMI-FINALS! Only ONE MORE DAY until the final round and we crown our overall soup winner. Miso soup put up a very strong battle and was winning the majority of the day, but a wave of phonatics came through and ultimate, bracket 1 went to Pho. Corn Chowder won bracket 2, Ramen won bracket 3 and Tortilla Soup won bracket 4. Here are the semi final face-offs:

  • Pho (12 votes) vs. Ramen (30 votes)

  • Corn Chowder (16 votes) vs. Tortilla (27 votes)

Day 10: The time has arrived. 52 soups have exited the competition and we are left with the top two. Looking back, this has been quite the unexpected path. But we are left today, with our final two soups battling head to head to become The Soup Troupe's 1st Annual Soup Showdown Winner!

Without further ado, the finalists are:

  • RAMEN VS. TORTILLA

And the decisive winner is....

Ramen received 45 votes & Tortilla Soup received 12 votes

So, after 2 weeks, 1700 votes, we have determined (objectively) what the best soup of ALL TIME is!!!

This was so much fun for us and hopefully so much fun for you too! This certainly served as a distraction from the woes of the world for at least a little! :)

We would LOVE to do something like this again. If you are a food blogger or business and want to somehow get involved in a future incarnation of this, please let us know :)

Enjoy this slideshow of our bracket as we moved towards the finals

Please note bracket 4 is a little off (sorry!)
